More Accolades for Cúchulainn Star
Cúchulainns very own Declan Coulter was recently crowned “Hurler of Ulster” at
the Tennent’s GAA Writers Assoctaion Annual Shin-dig at Bundoran last weekend.
This was an outstanding achievement considering the talent in Down, Derry and
Antrim hurling strongholds. This unique achievement will hopefully motivate all
young hurlers in Armagh and other non-hurling counties to work on their game
and help raise the standards in Ulster.

Cuchulainn Senior Player Represents Ulster & Ireland
Armagh Cuchulainn Declan Coulter from Milford has had a busy couple of weeks
representing his province and country. As a member of Irelands Senior and Under
21 Shinty teams Declan travelled to Fort William in Scotland on the 12th-15th
October to play in the annual international series between Ireland and
Scotland. Declan was an integral part of the winning Under 21 side scoring 8 of
his teams 13 points on the Sunday having already represented his Country on the
Saturday in the Senior match playing alongside Kilkenny’s Martin Comerford. For
his performance in the Under 21 match Declan was awarded the honour of being
named man of the match an award that has been previously received by such
hurling greats as Brian Corcoran, Joe Deane (Cork) and Davy Fitzgerald (Clare).
The following Weekend Declan was selected to play for Ulster against Connaught
in the Railway Cup Hurling semi-final. Although Ulster lost 1:28 to 4:13 Declan
acquitted himself well scoring 4 points from play from the left half forward
position.
The Cuchulainn Hurling Club Armagh want to congratulate Declan on his
achievements and wish him every success with his nomination as Hurler of the
Year in the Nicky Rackard Cup.

Derrynoose Get Revenge in Feile Shield
The U-14 team played Derrynoose in their last match of the season in
the Feile Shield in Middletown last Sunday. The CHC coaches used the occassion
to give all the boys who hadn't started in other matches the opportunity to
play in a competitive match. There were also a few changes to other positions
thus adding more twists to an already experimental side.
This was a thoroughly entertaining match played with true GAA spirit - the lads
that played gave it everything and although they lost they can hold their heads
up with pride. The club would also like to thank the parents for turning out to
support the lads on a cold and damp day.
The final event in the Junior Calendar will be the annual prize giving evening
- details will appear on the website when finalised.

U14s Win County League
The U14s won the 2007 county league at Sherry's Fields last Saturday
in a thrilling match against Derrynoose. Victory for CHC meant that they did
not have to face Keady in their final league match because of their 100% win
record.
It was a very close encounter with neither team able to carve out a decent
lead. Derrynoose scored the first point of the game through a free from which
CHC responded through points from D Moen, C Toner and B Murphy. Derrynoose
brought the game level with a goal which looped over the CHC keeper's head and
then went ahead with another point. CHC then had several opportunties to get a
goal back by dropping the ball in deep and initiating some exciting goal mouth
scrambles. However, it wasn't until the end of the first half that the boys
were able to capitalise, firstly with a well taken point from P Duffy and a
hard fought goal by S Kerr. Half time CHC 1-05 Derrynoose 1-02.
The second half saw fewer scores and more hard tackling with boys from both
sides taking big pulls on the legs. Both sides traded points (another from C
Toner) before Derrynoose levelled the match again with a well worked goal.
Derrynoose then took the lead from another free and it wasn't until 10 minutes
to go that CHC started to motor. Firstly a goal by B Quinn followed by a point
from D Moen and then another goal by C White finally sealed the game and league
title. Final score CHC 3-07 Derrynoose 2-04.
This has been a great campaign for the boys and they thoroughly deserve the
title. Their final match will be against Derrynoose in the Armagh
Shield - details will be announced as soon as they become available.

sessions will begin again at St Brigid’s High School. The Club wishes to thank
the young boys for their efforts and especially Ronan McWilliams and his

their dedication. The Club also wishes to thank Mr Cullen, Principal of St
Brigid’s High School, for facilitating our coaching sessions.
Championship Heartache for All
September has been a month to forget for most involved with the club
from senior down to junior level. The Senior team were edged out by Middletown
in the County Championship S-Final in what was a fiercly contested match. The
U-14s lost to All-Ireland Feile champions Keady in their respective S-Final.
Finally, the U12s lost to Derrynoose in their County Final in what could only
be described as a game of 2 halves. The young Cuchulainns took a commanding
lead early on but a brave comeback by Derrynoose denied the U12s the chance of
3 in a row.
U14s Look to Wrap up League
The U14s still have some silverware to play for this weekend on
Saturday 29th Sept at 4pm (Sherrysfields - TBC). If they beat Derrynoose they
will win the County League - all players and supporters of club are encouraged
to come along and cheer the boys on.
U12s win John Dougan Trophy
The U12s managed to extract some revenge on Derrynoose when the 2
teams clashed in the final of the John Dougan Perpetual Trophy. This is a new
blitz competition sponsered by John which this year included 2 other teams from
Tyrone (Dungannon) and Derry (Ballinascreen). Well done lads!!

Championship Latest
3 Cuchúlainn sides are in Championship action this forthcoming
weekend.
The Senior team will be travelling to Keady to play Middletown on Sunday 9th
September in the Senior County Championship (throw-in 5pm).
Preceding that match will be the U-14 side who will be playing Keady on their
home turf for a place in the U-14 County Final.
Finally, the U12s will be hoping for 3-in-a-row when they take on Derrynoose in
the U-12 County Final (venue and throw-in time TBC) on Saturday 8th September.
All parents, ex-players and supporters of the club are asked to come out this
weekend and cheer on the teams in what promises to be a highly entertaining
weekend of hurling.
Monday 20th August
Roanmore of Waterford host Successul Stephen O'Keefe
The U-12s had a brilliant weekend down in Waterford as Roanmore hosted
the annual Stephen O'Keefe tournament. The coaching staff and parents who also
made the journey were provided with hurling of the highest order. The young
Cuchulainns themselves showed how much hurling has improved in Armagh as they
held their own against Roanmore and Clarecastle (Clare) and only narrowly lost
out on both occasions. Although they didn't win the competition - that honour
went to Roanmore - they can look forward to the Semi-Final of the County
Championships with lots of confidence, especially after beating Keady earlier
in the week.
Special mentions should go out to Ciaran Duffy for Cuchulainn Player of the
Tournament and also Barry Coulter for coming 2nd in the Skills Competition.
Well done lads.
Finally, the club would like to thank Roamore for their excellent hospitality
and for all the entertainment and refreshments provided throughout the weekend
for the players, coaches, mentors and parents. Everyone who made the long trip
from Armagh agreed it was a fantiastic weekend despite the dreary weather.
Photographs from the weekend will be available to view and download soon.
U-12s through to Championship Semi-Final
The U-12s took on Keady at Derrynoose in the Championship last
Thursday. Having already been on the receiving end of a heavy defeat the week
before by Keady in the league the boys knew this was not going to be an easy
task. This was evident in the first half as Keady took the lead with a goal
early in the match. This was then followed up by another goal and 2 points.
However, Cuchulainns kept plugging away and manged to claw the score back to
0-04 to 2-02 by half time. Whatever, was said to the lads at half-time must
surely have worked as the boys stepped up a gear and really started battling
for every ball. They soon got their first goal through a B Coulter free which
lobbed over the keeper's head. Keady responded with another goal putting
further pressure on the team. However, with a combination of great play and
more good fortune the lads scored 2 goals and point without reply. This put
them 3 points up with 5 minutes to play. Keady clawed it back to just a single
point with a couple of minutes to go but another B Coulter free ensured the
team's victory. Final score 3-06 to 3-04.
Congratulations to the lads as this was a well deserved and hard-fought victory
over a good Keady side.
Juvenile Committee Organise Fundraiser Night
Special thanks to Damian Kirk for organising a successful fundraiser
night in Milford a couple of weeks ago. The quiz proved very popular and all
that attended enjoyed the evening. Thanks also to Darrel Gorman for sorting out
the bar for the evening. The money raised that night, along with the raffle
will certainly help pay for all the transport costs incurred by the juvenile
teams this year as well as financing the U-12s trip down to Waterford. Also,
congratulations to Ciaran Duffy for winning the Henry Sheflin signed Killkenny
shirt in the raffle.

evening. Tickets at £15.00 each are available from any Committee Member.

U-14 League Dominance Continues
The young Cuchulainns maintained their 100% league record after
Portadown came to Milford in Armagh last Monday evening - with both teams
agreeing to play for both home and away points there was lots to play for. Also
with the July holidays still in effect, several U-12 were brought into the
squad to help fill key positions. However this do not appear
to weaken the side as right from the whistle Cuchulainns started putting
scores on the board. Goals and points came galore courtesy of P Leonard, the
McGillen brothers, S Kerr and B Murphy. With the match over by half-time all 5
subs came on for the 2nd half although the scoring was less forthcoming D Moen,
S Kerr and C Toner put over some great scores to see the match out at 8-19 to
0-04. Particular mention should go to B Coulter and C Gorman who played their
first match for the U-14s and both look like they will be great additions to
the main panel next season.
U-12 League Playoff Fixtures Announced
The U-12s have been grouped along with Keady, Derrynoose and Craobh
Rua in their section. Matches will be played each Thursday at 7.30pm - first up
is Derrynoose away.
Other News
The Annual Juvenile Fundraising night is being organised for Saturday
11th August at 7.30pm in Milford Old School House. The junior players will be
selling raffle tickets to help raise a bit of money with the top prize being a
signed Kilkenny Jersey by Henry Sheflin. We are hoping for a big turn out so
please come along and show your support for the club. More details will be
announced nearer the time. The club are also hoping to get tickets for all
juvenile players for the Nicky Rackard Cup Final in Croke Park on the same day.
If successful it means the boys will be able to watch Armagh take on Roscommon
and cheer on fellow club members Declan and Chris Coulter. Also featuring that
day is an All-Ireland football Q-Final between Dublin and one of the
qualifiers.

Minors Maintain 100% Record
Cuhulainns maintained their 100% record in the Armagh League with a
stylish display against a useful Dungannon side last Saturday in Sherries
Field.
Playing towards the Callan Street end in the 1st half Niall Moen opened the
scoring with a well taken point from play. The two teams traded points and
after 10mins the sides were locked at 3 points apiece. The Cuchulainns midfield
of Thomas Turley and Daniel Rafferty began to assert themselves on the game,
supplying the forward line with quality possession leading to scores from Moen
and Aidan Clifford. The defence, after starting slowly were growing into the
game, to the fore was Conor Devlin, Liam McKenna and Ciaran Reid ably assisted
by brother Killian, Ryan Moen and Chris McCullough. This led the platform for
the Cuchulainns to press ahead with Niall Moen netting in the 25th minute after
some skillful assist work from PJ Nugent sandwiched between 2 superb points by
Rafferty.
H/T 1-9 to 0-3
The second half saw the introduction of Tony Duffy and Conor Coulter who were
on County duty earlier that day, they immediately made an impact scoring a
point each. Dungannon had some very nippy forwards and for the great work of
Paddy Heaney stopping 3 certain goals in a great display of confident
goalkeeping the game could have ended much tighter. Heaneys heroics in goal
subsequently lifted his team and cuchulianns finished very strongly with points
from Turley (3), Coulter (2) and Moen (3). Daniel Rafferty who worked
tirelessly in midfield was moved to the edge of the square, a move which
cuchulainns 2nd goal, rafferty pulling to the net after a long ball in from
Duffy.
Another good display from the lads in a great display of Teamwork which gets
them through to the league semi final.
Scorers: N. Moen 1-6, T. Turley 0-6, D. Rafferty 1-2, C. Coulter 0-3, C. Devlin
and T. Duffy 0-1 each.
Monday 2nd July
Minors Start Season with win
Cuchulianns Minors opened up their league campaign with a impressive
win over a hard working Craobh Rua (Camlough/Killeavy) in Sherries Field. The
game began at a quick pace with Cuchulianns registering 3 early points through
Niall Moen (2) and Tommy Turley. Rua reply quickly and narrowed the gap to the
minimum. This seemed to galvanize the home team with the next 10 minutes being
somewhat of a purple patch with 1-5 posted on the score board the pick of them
being a Callon Doyle goal and a skillful point from Aidan Clifford. Before
half-time Moen added another maximum and 2 points from Turley brought the CHC
lads into the break well in command.
H/T 2-10 to 0-2
Cuchulianns began the 2nd half showing no signs of complacency with further
goals from Doyle, Conor Coulter and Turley. PJ Nugent was introduced and
immediately struck over a super point. Tommy Turley who put in a man of the
match performance from mid field was dominating added another goal and 3
points. Nearing the end CHC added a 2 more goals as the south Armagh side
tired, that said Craobh Rua battled hard till the end and were rewarded with
goal from a penalty at the death. All in all it was good start for Cuchulianns,
with tough assignments ahead. Final score 7-17 to 1-4
Training this Sunday 1st July at 3.00p.m. all Minors and U-16s welcome.
Up and coming fixtures for the Minor team have also been added to the site -
please see the Fixtures section for more information.

U-12 win in Lurgan
The under 12.5 team travelled to Lurgan Sean Tracy’s on Thursday 20th
of June and won a very one sided affair taking some great scores. The high
point of the night was the very competitive under 11 match played on the
adjoining pitch which allowed all members of the squad to participate fully.
Sean Tracy’s are to be commended in having the foresight to plan this.
Next matches are a friendly away to Dungannon and then a home fixture against
Keady on Thursday 28th June in Milford.
Thursday 21st June
Results Round-up
The Seniors were defeated in the 1/4 final of the Ulster League by
Randalstown on Sunday 2-08 to 0-16. Home advantage for Randalstown and the
unavailability of County players were the telling factors. A very tough
encounter with a large home support for a young side and hopefully the lads
will be the better for it. It could all have been so different as CHC hit the
cross bar in the last puck of the game - unfortunatley luck wasn't with the
team that day.
No game on Tues, Lisnaskea called it off. Not sure if M/town game will go ahead
next week either.
The U-14 match cancellation situation contiued as matches against Derrynoose,
Carrickmore and now Middletown have been called off.
The team did however manage to play Dungannon in what was a very tight affair
(which also included the size of the pitch!). The match ended in a 9 point draw
but it is good to finally play some teams that can match the lads for skill and
stamina - this will only serve to improve the team for the forthcoming
Championship.
The Cuchulainn Under 12.5 side put in an impressive display against a young
Middletown team in their recent Armagh League match at Milford. The match
started well for the local side with a two quick goals placing Middletown on
the back foot. Scores proved hard to come by over the next ten minutes as both
teams battled hard and some of the blocking by Middletown was exceptional from
such a young set of players. The Cuchulainn side stuck to their task and all
players answered the questions that Middletown asked of them. As the half wore
on the Cuchulainn side took control limiting Middletown to 2 pointed frees.
Halftime CHC 5.3 Middletown 0.2
The Cuchulainns played some excellent free flowing hurling in the second half
with vital contributions made by all players and some exceptional point taking.
The confidence and skill displayed by the Cuchulainn team during the whole
match was a credit to this young group of players. Middletown must be commended
for their spirit and determination and the scoreline does not do them justice
as during the last quarter they ran out of steam. Final Score CHC 7.12
Middletown 0.2.
Friday 8th June
Results Round-up
An earlier correction to the Carrickmore score - the Seniors were
beaten 1-10 to 0-18.
Their unforunate run in the Armagh league continued when they were beaten by
Pearse Ogs (2-03 to 1-08).
However, the Ulster League play-offs still look promising as they beat Newry
Shamrocks at home (4-10 to 2-07).
The U-14s league match against Keady was called off due to football commitments
- 2 challenge matches for next week against Dungannon (Mon - away) and
Carrickmore (Wed - home) have been arranged.
The Cuchulainn under 12.5 season is in full flow with the team having already
participated in a series of league and friendly matches. The 23rd of May saw
the first Armagh league match against Derrynoose at home. The young
Cuchulainn’s played outstandingly well in the first half however a late
fightback in the second half saw Derrynoose pip them by a point in a match were
a draw would have been the fairest result. Final score CHC 1.4 – Derrynoose 1.5
The Young team travelled to Killeavy for their second league match and won
comfortably 3.5 to 0.0. This match proved invaluable for the team as it allowed
many of the youngest players to gain experience and allowed both teams to
compete with most scores coming in the last ten minute when some of the
Cuchulainns older players came on.
The team has already played friendlies against Carrickmore and Portaferry .
Thursday
31st May
Results Round-up
The Seniors continued their unbeaten run in the Armagh Leaague with a
home draw to Carrickmore (1-10 to 0-13).
The U-14s maintained their 100% unbeaten league run with a one-sided away
victory over Sean Traceys (7-20 to 0-00).
The U-12s league campaign got off to a bad start when they lost out to
Derrynoose by a single point in an entertaining match at Sherrysfields (1-03 to
1-04).

Golf Classic Huge Success
Cuchulainn Hurling Club are once again most grateful to 24/7 Fuels who
sponsored the Club’s Annual Golf Classic at County Armagh Golf Club for a
second year in a row on Friday 18th May. Twenty teams including five from
Powerscreen, braved the blustery and at times inclement weather but no one
could complain about the superb condition of the course with its greens in
perfect order. Each team was sent on its way with starter packs provided by
Alan Taylor of Ring Road Stores and the Club would also like to take this
opportunity to thank all the individual hole sponsors on the day. After a
beautiful meal the guests settled down to hear who battled best on the day,
before being serenaded by Harry “the Legend” McGeough to complete a thoroughly
entertaining day.

Chairman, Jimmy Kelly, welcomed all present and thanked the Captain and members
of County Armagh Golf Club for allowing the Club to continue their successful
partnership. The Captain, Jack Magown, reciprocated by welcoming members of the
Hurling club and hoped that they enjoyed their day out.

Underage Results Round-up
The U-16s match with Killeavey was cancelled after Killeavey withdrew
from the league.
The U-14s failed to reach the Armagh Feile final this year at Portadown. It all
came down to their second match with Keady which the boys lost (0-03 to 4-03).
After two convincing wins against Sean Traceys (4-06 to 0-00) and Middletown
(8-11 to 0-01) they now qualify for the Shield Final where they will play
Derrynoose.
Yesterday evening their 100% league record was maintained after another solid
performance aginst Croabh Rua (8-11 to 0-00).
The U-12s played Carrickmore in their second challenge match at Sherrysfields
on Sunday evening. The boys put in a good solid performance and won the match
3-10 to 0-01.

Results Round-up
The Seniors continued their good run in the Armagh and Ulster leagues
with wins against Lisnaskea (7-12 to 1-15), Rasharkin (1-13 to 0-04) and
Middletown (5-08 to 1-13).
The U-16s started their league campaign off to a good start by recording a
relatively easy result at home to Croabh Rua (6-11 to 1-02).
The U-14s failed to reach the Ulster Feile final this year at Ballycastle. With
Ballinascreen withdrawing from the group (which was changed at the last minute)
the boys recorded a convincing win against Bredagh from Down (5-05 to 0-00).
They then faced Glenshesk for the right to play Keady in the section final but
unfortunately the Antrim team were just too good on the day (0-03 to 2-04).
Despite the setback the boys then picked themselves up and beat Middletown in
Madden 2-15 to 0-00 to keep their Armagh League 100% win record intact.
The U-12s played Monaghan Harps in a challenge match, their first game of the
season. Despite some encouraging individual performances the boys lost out on a
single point (2-02 to 3-00).

Paudie Butler Visits Armagh
Last Saturday, hurling coaches from all the clubs around Armagh were
treated to a great day long seminar from the current GAA National Hurling
Director Paudie Butler.
Cuchulainns were well represented sending no fewer than 15 coaches from all age
groups. Paudie took 2 sessions - one with the County U-16 development squad and
the other with the U-14s. He demonstrated drills that covered all aspects of
the modern game and certainly gave the attentive coaches food for thought for
the coming season.
The day was finished off by a short theory session on coaching and a meal at
the Armagh City Hotel. Everyone agreed it was an excellent day and the club
would like to thank Paudie for his time and also to Ronan McWilliams for
helping to organise the event.
As the whole day was videod the club will be receiving a DVD of all the drills
taken. Copies will be made and distributed to anyone who wants them (contact
Adam in the U-14s for further details). It is also hoped that extracts from the
DVD will be posted onto this site.

U-14s Beat Derrynoose in League
The U-14s continued their good form with a comfortable away win
against Derrynoose. Being in constant possession for most of the first half,
the team registered 5 goals and 1 point and the game was pretty much over by
half time. This gave the coaches the opportunity to bring on and assess all the
substitutes who aquitted themselves well. The second half saw many chances
missed but strong back and midfield play ensured the team didn't concede a
single point. Up front, a further goal and point saw Cuchulainns emerge as easy
victors. Final score was 6-2 to 0-1.
Plenty of good performances to note especially newcomer D Donnelly, and the 2
midfielders C Toner and D Moen. The competition for top scorer is already
hotting up with 8 players having already registered scores.
C White (2-0), P. Duffy (1-1), B Quinn (1-1), J Lynch (1-0), L McGillan (1-0)
Next Saturday (5th May) sees the lads travel to Dunloy to take part in the
Ulster Feile. This will be a much tougher test as they will be playing against
much harder opposition but hopefully they will relish the challenge that
awaits.

U-14 Ulster Feile Update
The U-14 Ulster Feile will take place all over Antrim this year with
Cuchulainns playing their group matches in Dunloy .
The finals and parade will be held in Ballycastle .
Cuchulainns, having been promoted from last year into Division B now face
stronger opposition in the form of Banagher (Derry), Gortnamona (Belfast) and
Dunloy (Antrim).
Match Report – Ulster Senior League v Lisnaskea
After a mediocre performance in the opening round against Glenarm the
players managed to overcome a gutsy Lisnaskea side at Pearse Og Park last
Saturday. Playing against the breeze in the 1st half Cuchulainns held off the
Fermanagh side and managed to keep their noses in front with points from L
Moen, P Sherry, R McWilliams and a goal by C Kane to go in at the break on 1.5
to 1.2.
However, the Fermanagh men started better in the 2nd half by crowding the
middle and this did not suit the Armagh side. Eventually the boys got back on
top with some industrious performances in C Coulter and R McWilliams (1 pt) and
with further points from L Moen, C Kane, C Toner, C Clifford and a goal by P
Sherry killed off the Lisnaskea challenge. Final Score CHC 2.10 Lisnaskea 1.7.
U-10 Hurling Sessions
There will be no session this Saturday 28th April but training will
resume the following Saturday 5th May.

U-14s Beat Keady in First League Match
The U-14s got their league campaign off to a great start last Monday
when they beat Keady in Madden. Full forward C. McGillen was the star of the
show as he notched up an impressive 3-2 in a match that the young Cuchúlainns
were always in control of. Other scorers were S. Kerr (1-1), B Quinn (1-0), L
McGillen (0-1) and C. Toner (0-1). Other notable performances came from captain
T. Marley who controlled the back line well and B. Murphy who never stopped
running all night. Final score was 5-5 to 1-3.
This was a great result for the lads considering they had never even played a
challenge match this season and have had little time to train together as a
full panel.

Gala Night 2007 - GAA President wants to see City Hurling Club in their own
pitch by 2009
Cuchulainn Hurling Club held a Gala Dinner Evening on Saturday last in
the esteemed company of GAA President, Nicky Brennan and Anthony Daly, Former
Captain and Manager of the Clare Team.
This major event was organised to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the
successful CBS Mageean Cup winning squad, Ulster Colleges’ most prestigious
hurling competition but also to raise funds to obtain the club’s ambition of
owning its own pitch.
Six hundred guests were welcomed by Club Chairman, Jim Kelly, and after dinner
in his address, Nicky Brennan expressed his concern that a community-based Club
such as Cúchulainns did not have their own facilities but he gave an
undertaking that he would do everything within his power to assist the Club in
its quest and he further hoped that by 2009, the year in which the GAA will
celebrate its 125th year in existence, that the Club would have acquired a new
home for hurling in the City.
After the presentations to the Mageean Cup Squad of 1982, Sean Harvey, acting
as auctioneer, sold off several items including a Dennis Healey signed Northern
Ireland Jersey which sold for £1,300 and a fantastic unique painting donated by
local artist, Bridget Fields, which sold for over £2000.
The Club would like to take this opportunity to thank all our Sponsors of
corporate tables, advertisements, and donations in kind and a special word of
gratitude to all those who successfully bid and won our auction items.
Annual Club Presentations
The Club’s annual presentations were awarded later in the evening with
the following recipients:
Player of the Fergus Moen Memorial Tournament: Eugene Thomas
Donal Powell Perpetual Trophy for Senior Player of the Year: Christopher Kane
Tommy Corvan Perpetual Cup for Young Player of the Year: Eoghan Gribben
Micky McManus Perpetual Cup for Minor Player: Paddy Sherry
Most Improved Player of the Year: Cormac Moen
Two special presentations were made to; Gerard Devlin for his selection as
“Ulster Referee of the Year” and to Declan Coulter for his selection on both
the Ulster Railway Cup and Ireland Squads.

The 'Official' Fergus Moen Tournament Match Report
The contents of this report come from the one and only Kit Heaney who
was brave enough to submit the following words:-
The over 35s showed that true class never leaves you. You had the mastery of
Gregory McKernan at full forward who gave Dean McParland a huge headache
throughout the match. Then there was the energetic looking Noel Murtagh who
showed that he has not lost the art of SQUINTING for the ball. Then there was
Paddy Lavery at corner back, who on announcing that he was lining out made all
the rest of the over 35s go to the other end of the field or go to the subs
bench. The yellow helmeted "Billy the Wizh" came on in the 2nd half and moved
that much that a bead of sweat was declared on him. He hugged that far touch
line (well away from Paddy Lavery) and played defence splitting passes into Big
Gregs. He did that so often that he even came back into his own defence but it
tough going there and moved again further upfield. A 2nd bead of sweat was
registered. All in all the over 35s equitted themselves heroically with their
lovely wifes standing proudly on the touchline, telling their children that
"Daddy is making a fool of himself again." A special word must go to our
Chairman who hobbled out for the 2nd half and began to dissect the play of the
veterans. He claims that one of us is in with a chance for player of the
tournament. P.S I didn't vote for you Billy the Wizh!!!!!
If anyone has alternative versions please email them into the club...
Another mention must also go out to the U-10s who took part in an earlier match
although the word on the street is that the quality of the senior match was
such that you wouldn't have been able to tell which match was which...
